Options Bytown Appoints New Executive Director

Following a rigorous recruitment and selection process, Options Bytown has appointed a new Executive Director to replace Lorraine Bentley, who will be retiring in March after 17 years of great service to Options Bytown and to the community.

The new Executive Director will be Catharine Vandelinde, who comes to us from the Mental Health Commission and who has extensive experience in community based programs serving diverse populations in Ottawa. Catharine starts her work with Options Bytown on the 13th of March.

We are confident that, under Catharine’s leadership, Options Bytown’s staff will  continue to move forward, providing excellent service to our tenants and clients, in collaboration with our community partners.

Welcome Catherine.

This year's recipient of the 'Make Homelessness History' award at the 2016 Options Bytown AGM  is awarded to Options Bytown’s partners and friends in the Psychiatric Outreach Team of the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group for the hard work they do each day to improve the lives of the clients and tenants of Options Bytown. The Royal Ottawa Health Care Outreach Team has been an integral partner in providing much needed health care and support services to the Options Bytown community since they opened their doors in 1989. The presentation will be made by Councillor Catherine McKenny and this year, Options Bytown recognizes Patricia Lapp and Joseph Deviller for their caring and dedicated work.

“Both Outreach Workers have displayed wisdom, insight and a non-judgmental approach towards clients and tenants which has been appreciated by staff and tenants alike. Their flexibility, consultation in a crisis as well as clear and direct communication with staff is what defines a good community partnership,” said Lorraine Bentley.
