Caring and creative Ottawa residents and community groups came together in 1987 because they saw a crisis in our community and knew we could do more to help people who were homeless.
The group determined a solution beyond shelters was needed. They established Options Bytown to work towards a new answer to the homelessness crisis.
Our first building opened its doors in the heart of Ottawa’s Byward Market in 1989.
We've grown since then!
Today, we:
Operate four supportive housing sites.
Run eight resource centres in Ottawa Community Housing buildings.
Support and house 200 people through our Housing First program.
Run a peer-to-peer program to help those with hoarding behaviours.
